Meet Max, a 6½ year old, neutered male GSD.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a natural protector, and a keen birdwatcher, Max could be your perfect match.
Max is a highly intelligent German Shepherd with a big personality. He thrives with an experienced owner who can provide clear guidance and help him continue developing positive habits. In the right hands, he is incredibly trainable and eager to learn.
He’s got a playful, quirky side too—he loves carrots (like a little pony!) and enjoys spending time observing the world around him. Max is affectionate and enjoys attention, especially his morning cuddles, but he’s also good at letting you know when he needs his own space.
Max is currently working on a few behaviours. He can be protective over his possessions and food, likely due to his past, but he is making great progress with support and consistency. He will need an owner who understands this and can continue building his confidence.
He is also learning how to socialise with other dogs. At the moment, he can feel anxious and overwhelmed, so he will need to remain on lead and continue his training. Due to his prey drive, a home without small animals or small dogs would be best.
Max would suit a calm, structured home—either a single person or a couple—rather than a busy household, as too much activity can overwhelm him. He responds well to routine and enjoys exercise, garden time, and peaceful walks where he can take in nature.
With the right guidance, patience, and leadership, Max will make an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
